York International in Russia
Following the fall of the Soviet Union and the opening of boarders to the outside world, York International in 1991 received accreditation status under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Russian Federation. In 1992, York opened a daughter company, ZAO York International and began to intensify its activities in the Russian market. Since 1992, York International has supplied and installed air conditioning and heating systems, as well as refrigeration equipment in over 1000 large projects.

To strengthen its' position as the premier supplier of refrigeration equipment, York International, Incorporation in 1999 acquired the Danish company SABROE. This permitted York International to have access to new world markets, such as the fishing and marine industries, where SABROE was considered to be the dominant supplier of industrial refrigeration. Today, York International, due to its aggressive and strategic expansion into new markets while maintaining it's customer focus holds approximately 60 percent of the Industrial Refrigeration Industry worldwide. More specifically, SABROE with it already established presence in Russia and CIS has provided tremendous momentum to the growth and strength of the refrigeration business. For instance, SABROE sold its first compressor into Russia in 1917 and has since development and earned the reputation of superior quality and performance in the local market.

Recognizing a unique opportunity to expand its' air conditioning systems business in Russia and to better satisfy the local requirements of its customers, ZAO York International, in November of 2000 opened an assembly and light manufacturing facility in the outskirts of Moscow. Due to this, customers today enjoy shorter delivery times, equipment meeting all Russian certifications, and well as the quality and performance York equipment has come to stand for.
